Ethics

Ethics is a cross-cutting concern in all our research. In this dedicated strand, we explore how ethical principles can be systematically integrated into the design, deployment, and evaluation of digital systems, especially in public service contexts.
Our team has substantial experience in ethical evaluation for large-scale research projects and policy initiatives. We develop tools, frameworks, and training materials to help stakeholders navigate complex ethical issues in digital transformation.

Key Research Topics:

  • Ethics in AI and algorithmic decision-making
  • Ethics-by-design in public sector innovation
  • Governance of emerging technologies
  • Ethics review methodologies for research
  • Responsible innovation frameworks

Selected Projects:

Beyond these projects, we are advancing our work on ethics in AI and emerging technologies, with a focus on how values like fairness, transparency, and accountability can be embedded in digital systems. We are particularly engaged in research on ethics assessment methodologiesethics-by-design in public services, and the governance of automated decision-making in the public sector. Additional interests include ethical challenges in big data and biometrics, the development of responsible innovation frameworks, and the role of ethics committees in research and policy. We also contribute to national and European-level discussions on digital rights and AI regulation.
